UNFOCUSED FREEDOM (ALBUM)
Unfocused Freedom is a live album that brings to life melodies and songs I’ve carried in my mind for over a decade. It’s a collection of music that has grown with me, shaped by time, experience, and the emotions that never quite leave. Accompanied by the extraordinary pianist Stav Goldberg, whose touch adds a layer of magic to every note, this album is an intimate journey through sound and storytelling.
At 15, I discovered a remarkable collection of over ten thousand poems and plays written by a New York-based psychologist and poet from half a century ago. As I delved into these works, I felt an overwhelming urge to bring them to life through music. To my amazement, I later learned that this poet was my grandfather, Irwin Robert Shaw. Although he passed away before I was born, his words sparked a profound connection within me, especially his exploration of the human inner voice—a theme that feels increasingly rare in today's world, where deep meaning and lyrical expression often seem elusive.
With Unfocused Freedom, past and present intertwine, melodies become memories, and music breathes life into words once left unread.
